OLLIE BEACH

Ollie Beach with peg models

OLLIE’S FINE LINE IN PEG MODELS

The humble clothes peg has kept Ollie Beach busy for the last two years.

Ollie (78) of Station Road, Burton Latimer, has taken to making all sorts of models from the pegs.

“I have never liked sitting around doing nothing. In the winter, when I can’t get about, it helps to pass the time.

“I started when I saw a model somebody else had made from pegs, and decided to have a go myself. I have carried on from there,” he said.

Ollie began modelling about two years ago and has since built tables and chairs, farm carts, wishing wells and wheelbarrows.

“I have loads of models; I just can’t find the room to put them all out.”

His never-ending supply of pegs comes from wherever he can buy them the cheapest.

“If my wife Doll and I are out somewhere and see some we can buy cheaper than locally, we will get them.

Ollie was a heating engineer before he retired.
