Land Tax -

Burton Latimer 1809

The listings are by parish, grouped by Hundreds, and give Proprietor and Occupier together with the amount of tax paid. Where a redemption is mentioned (e.g. Cold Ashby) these are marked "r" in the status column, those exonerated are marked "x", and "ut" is under tenant and a few personal property are marked "p". Occasionally the property is named and these will be marked ** to denote more information can be found in the original document. Where the proprietor is also the occupier an "s" is in the occupier column.

Observations made in the Higham Ferrers hundred are: Some parishes only give the total tax for the whole village e.g. Strixton, and some appear to have rounded the tax up or down to the nearest shilling e.g. Ringstead. A few parishes with common surnames use areas of the parish to differentiate e.g. Raunds.

To help the searcher find a particular hundred in the listings, the first page numbers in the transcript and the two letter codes used in the index are:-
