Burton Strike - men return to work pending a settlement.

Article taken from The Wellingborough News 19th March 1915

The employees of Messrs Buckby Bros, shoe manufacturers, Burton Latimer, decided not to return to work last Saturday morning. Representatives of the Shoe Operatives Union interviewed the employees.
The firm complained that they were singled out for demands which should apply to the whole of the factories in Burton Latimer, and the whole of the manufacturers in Burton Latimer, after consultation on the position of affairs, have announced that they are prepared to consider any point in dispute next week on condition that Messrs Buckby’s men return to work.
This promise met with the approval of the strikers, who accordingly returned to work on Thursday. Matters in dispute will be laid before a joint meeting next week, and, failing a settlement, the points will be referred to an umpire to be mutually agreed upon.
