Louis Herbert Lethbridge was very active in the community. He served on the Urban District Council and was its chairman in 1927. He was a keen sportsman and can be seen on many photographs of cricket and football teams. He also attempted to introduce rugby football to the boys at the Church School but it was quietly dropped after two seasons.

The following is an extract from a Kettering Leader dated 8th February 1935:
The announcement that the Rev. L.H. Lethbridge, who was Rector of Burton Latimer from 1920 to 1930, is coming back to Northamptonshire has been received with considerable pleasure in the town. No man can have been more popular than was Mr. Lethbridge during his stay at Burton, and on taking over the incumbency of Harpole, no doubt he will visit his friends here. His popularity in Burton was evinced by his heading the poll at the Urban Council elections of 1930. In 1927 he was chairman, and the previous year, vice-chairman. In 1922 Mr. Lethbridge was elected to the Parish council also to the Guardians, and in 1923 elected to the first Urban Council.
