A newly-formed Holiday Club has been set up as an experiment to entertain youngsters in the town. So far about 50 have turned up at each morning and afternoon session. The vestry has been used for Judo, and the church has been the base for a number of other activities including making sock puppets, modelling, pottery, sketching and cookery. Orienteering is also on the programme of events for six to twelve year olds, who pay 10p admission fee. If the weather is fine the club will round off its activities on Friday with a mini sports day on the Rectory lawns. Vicar the Rev David Bowles said: "The holiday club was one of my brighter ideas! It is being run by a team of men and women, some of whom belong to the church. This is the first time we have run the club and it is purely an experiment. Whether or not we repeat it next year depends on how the team of supervisors feel at the end of the week!"
