The Burton Latimer Division of the St John Ambulance Brigade held their annual competition for the Whitney Cup at their headquarters on Saturday afternoon last, where some keen competition took place before a good company of supporters, including Lady Corps Superintendent Mrs Wills, Lady Corps Officer Mrs Teagle of Kettering, Mrs W Norton, Orlingbury, Mrs T Norton, Burton Latimer, Miss J Harpur, Nurse Brooks, Mr A C Harris, and members of the Men’s Division. Dr Arthur and Nurse Page, of Wellingborough, judged the competition. Lady Divisional Superintendent Mrs J L Harpur was not able to be present owing to illness. Lady Ambulance Officer Mrs Summerfield took charge, supported by Ambulance Officer H. Long. After the competition tea was served in the Co-op Hall after which the result of the competition was announced by Dr Arthur and Nurse Page, who explained how much more difficult it was to visualise a case, than to be at an actual case. Dr Arthur presented the cup to the winners, Nursing Sister Mrs Buswell and Nursing Sister Mrs Clews. Nursing Sisters Miss Herbert and Miss Ashby were second. |
