Burton Latimer claimed victory in the annual Northampton-shire Vice Presidents Bowling Association’s Harris Cup Rushden Town and Wellingborough hosted the early round of the competition with the semi-finals and final being played at the latter venue on the same day. The two winning rinks at each venue came together for the semi-finals, playing short matches of seven ends. . . . . The Burton rink of Brian Hunt, Tony Randall, Cameron Knox and Phil Exley then beat Kingsthorpe by the same score line to book their place in the final. And it proved to be fairly straightforward as Exley’s nine-year wait to win the event was ended in a 9-2 success after Burton collected two double counts to take an early 4-1 advantage and they never looked back after it. |
