Burton Latimer's first and latest carnival queens, and many in between, staged a special parade besides an exhibition at the towns scout hut. Carnival queen organiser Mrs Stephanie coleman displayed photographs of every title holder since 1934 when Megan Smith reigned in the town. Mrs Coleman and Mr Douglas Ashby also compiled a quiz about old Burton, won by former carnival committee member Alf Caffrey. The entertainment during the coffee morning raised £71 towards the cost of this years carnival princesses' float and dresses. Mrs Coleman said : "The picture exhibition had already been shown at the Anglia Building Society in High Street. Even so, 76 people of all generations came to the coffee evening to see it again and meet some of the queens. I have traced all the former carnival queens, including one who was chosen twice. Two live in America, but the rest are fairly local. Sadly not all were able to come to the coffee evening, which was otherwise a big success."
